I *greatly dislike* repair work on weekends.

Stupid fucking engine mount. Stupid fucking exhaust. I hate spending my saturday morning fixing things. I finally got the replacement engine mount I ordered from a guy on H-T yesterday. I noticed my car was being a little loud on the way to work. I figured I’d sprung another pinhole leak somewhere. no biggie. just tighten down the clamps. But on the way home, the exhaust “let go.” there’s only one component in my exhaust that wasn’t replaced when I bought the car, and the pipe finally sheared clean through in that location. so I got to roar home at 40MPH. the sound was deafening. my ears were ringing all night. so damn loud. it broke where the catalytic converter meets the resonator pipe assy. which is right around where my shifter is. so imagine all the sound your engine makes being pumped to that location.

The way I avoid getting ripshit every time I have to fix somehting is by finding out how much it would have cost me to have a mechanic do it. that always makes me smile. I spent 30 bucks on this mount, and 3 bucks on random nuts n bolts. so 33 bucks to replace an engine mount and fix a fux0r’d exhaust, including parts and labor… I figure this would be around a $600 job if I had a mechanic do it. saving $567 is always nice. I still hate skinning my knuckles first thing in the morning on my “days of rest.”

In other news, this track I’m listening to kicks ass. very rarely do I enjoy a remix more than the original. Myer is rockin my garage today, too.

Bah. I ended up putting back on the stock manifold and the spare cat I had lying around. so it’s all hooked up fine now. just finished a few minutes ago. I simply wasn’t up to the task of fabbing sections of pipe to accomodate the headers. Besides, the headers don;t do much more than look pretty since the rest of my exhaust is stock. I’m going to clean them and paint them with ceramic exhaust paint and just hold onto them till I get other exhaust components.

oh, and the header only cost me 10 bucks IIRC :p .
